it's almost december!

it's nearly december and that is exciting. i know it's cheesy, but i love christmas, christmas lights, christmas parties, and snow. my brother ryan will say that if i had a car that needed shoveling out, i wouldn't love the snow as much. i'm sure i would dislike the snow on my hypothetical car but it would still be lovely on the ground.

soon, it will be time to put up my little christmas tree. ryan and marin are going to help. my tree is ridiculous; it's from target and the lights are already attached. however, most of the ornaments are from my little violin students, so they're very cute.

classics

i read an article in harper's bazaar about wardrobe classics. not THE classics (and yes, i am the dodo that reads the actual text of the articles in fashion magazines) but your personal favorites that you love and never outgrow. the author made a list of hers, which included her little black dress and her beige trench coat. here are mine:

1. damask skirt by martin margiela (i bought it 6 years ago!)
2. navy blue cotton sweater that used to be mom's (it's worn out now, but she got it when i was little and i wore it almost every day of college)
3. libera mente sweater-there's nothing like it!
4. sweatshirt from dad with the lion of flanders on the back; it says london but comes from italy
5. hugo boss dress
6. anything with a skull on it
7. rimmy (a little old guy but still the best!)

there are no perfect winter shoes

it's true. what do you wear when there's snow or slush on the ground, but it's not actually precipitating?





keens are good, but the snow can come in the holes.

moon boots are too hot! rain boots are too cold! merrells are nice but the heels are too low so i can't wear my pants...

milo in maine, or, hillary peaks at 28

on sunday we went to janet's, and mark and zoe came over with the milo in maine shirts that they make and sell. imagine that you're a crack addict and someone comes over with a big box of crack...for half price! i bought some crack, and so did mom. i even bought some crack for jasper.

mom had the idea of layering her milo shirts so you could see the stitching on both. i copied her, and here are our pictures. ryan is wearing his rogue's gallery shirt. rimmy is wearing his fur.

thanksgiving update: what i wore!

thank you for voting last week! amanda, sofia, jay, and rayball voted for the green skirt so here it is. thanksgiving was fun and here are some pictures! mom and i looked through elle magazine for some model poses and i tried them. i guess i'll stick with composing...

cafe tacuba!

last night i went to two concerts. the first was the boston microtonal society at st. paul's church. the second was cafe tacuba at the roxy. they were very different. i was the only one at the microtonal society who was dressed for a club. at the roxy, i was the only gringa. jose luis and zaira and i took a picture with the cute keyboard player!

before going out, amanda and dario and the little girls came over. i didn't take any pictures of the girls this time but they were very hip in their tunic tops and leggings. while i was gone, amanda made them some pasta for dinner. i came home to find the rest of the pasta in a tupperware in my fridge. yay! i will eat it for dinner. i bet it has a lot of butter on it.

thanks to a promotion for this gin (which is delicious, and even more so when it's free) i had a little more fun than i planned last night! therefore, today i wore my sweatpants.

an outfit for elliott carter

today we have a talk with the composer elliott carter. he is one of the best known american composers...and he is 100 years old!!!! yes, he was born in 1907. i think he deserves a cute outfit on my part, at least! whether he can see it or not is another story. check back for a picture...

do i look like mom?

i couldn't post to my blog this morning because something was wrong with my camera! i fixed it the way i fix most things: by turning them on and off over and over again. this is called power cycling.

when i get dressed for school, i look like mom. this is fine, because mom always looks cute. sometimes it makes me laugh though!

you can see that the pictures with the camera timer could use some work.

rain boots it is (are?)

janet voted for rain boots and i took her advice. charlotte-who has already been at school for a whopping two hours as i write this-is also wearing her rain boots. the rest of my outfit is in this picture. i give it a B. if anyone has pictures of your rain boots, send them to me and i'll post them!

what should jasper wear? i put him in his navy fleece lounge pants and a splendid t-shirt that was a hand-me-down from his cousin, so the sleeves were too long. he looked very cozy, and kind of like the harvard kids when they wear their pjs to class...

my trip to philly

here i am in philly with sarah, josh and jasper. it's great to see them and their beautiful house, and i couldn't believe that jasper got even cuter than before. he can walk now and he says a few words. i didn't expect him to remember me but he wasn't shy at all so i think i seemed familiar to him. i brought my red and white purse that he used to like to chew on, but now he is older and prefers chewing on my phone.

it was hard to decide what to pack so i ended up with my running clothes and my black jeans and that's about it, oops. sarah says this is fine because she does the laundry every day anyway. polar bear didn't care what i packed. he just wanted to go to sleep!

what i wore the other day

this is what i wore the other day to school. i took a picture in the mirror before i realized that my camera had a little timer, so i don't have to take pictures in the mirror anymore. this is a tuxedo shirt for girls. you can't see the skirt but it has an unfinished hem, on purpose. i took it to the dry cleaner and they offered to "fix" it. ;)
