The One Week Challenge-Day 2
thank you for your comments! yesterday i succeeded in not buying anything, but i secretly wished that i were going to bed bath & beyond with alison. today will be more challenging because i have more free time; yesterday was busy with teaching and classes so i didn't have time to fall off the wagon. it's a good thing i don't have an iphone because i would probably use it to buy things online during class. last night i already wanted to buy a necklace from anthropologie. oops.
since most of the things i like to do cost money (shopping, eating out, decorating my apartment) i am trying to make a list of FREE activities that are fun. send me your ideas, please!
Fun FREE things to do
Go to Peets and drink the free sample coffee
Do the same thing at Whole Foods
Look online for what I am going to buy...next week!!! (evil cackle)
Play with Lizard
Watch videos of puppies on YouTube

Nerdo, the economy is in the crapper. Its our civic duty to buy things and get that money circulating. Like Marla Muzzy said when Laurent our French guide said the economy there was struggling - "dont worry, i brought my American Express!". Im doing my part, i skipped jury duty but bought shoes and a car. Your Fascist purchasing policies let the terrorists win. U-S-A! U-S-A!

don't worry, i think the only reason we are not in a total recession is because of what i bought last week
Dear Hillary, It is one day at a time as they say! Are there free museums, lectures etc at Harvard? They must have tons of free stuff to do ? Go to the book store and read stuff there.Compose something fabulous. Clean. If you could conjure up a date the inviter could treat you.Go to Hulu and watch free movies. U tube is starting this too. Watch streaming videos of TV shows like the Nanny or My so called Life.Invite someone over and cook.
Hey I thought it was no presents this Christmas??So was up with saving for Xmas?
Okay so mazel tov for day 3.xoxoAD
Just to make this official:
I don't know who decided on no presents because nobody told me. Anyway, sorry but I am not doing that. I absolutely adore Christmas and giving presents. Nobody has to give me anything, and that's fine! But it makes me very happy to give presents and I am not going to give that up...no way. If anyone is very upset by the idea of receiving a small gift from me, I will give a donation to Food For Free, which is fun too! (and much appreciated by many.) ;)
Hey Hillary, I think the no presents rule is over at our house, not yours! As another shopper who loves to give, and loves a little bit to receive, I found this idea very sad at first, but I have come around and now feel quite a bit of relief every time I see a sign about how many days are left until Christmas. Plus, it's saving us a ton of money! My idea for your weekend: hitchhike to NYC and do free things there.
I like that idea, Janet! :) maybe not the hitchhiking but definitely NY...
dear Hillary,
Pay the 21$ on your credit card bill. With all the free time you have by not shopping you can volunteer-there is always a need for that.
Did you watch that video I forwarded to you today? It was quite appropo? (sp).
Remember my chick pea recipe I sent you?
Split the squash in half-put face down in a 350 oven and cook until it is soft and caramelize.
You cooked a squash recipe from your food delivery service that has aduki beans in it I think.
